BriteFocus – BriteShot Review
What Is BriteFocus?
Let me start this BriteShot review by saying that I love the idea of a nootropic shot. After years of popping countless pills, mixing tons of powders, and chugging awful-tasting ground up plant roots, the idea of getting my nootropics from a convenient 2 oz. shot was very appealing.
So, what is BriteShot? It’s similar to other energy shots, except it contains a scientifically-formulated blend of nootropics. You’re probably familiar with popular energy shots, like 5-Hour Energy. They can be found at the checkout counter of countless gas stations and convenience stores around the world.
These popular energy-boosting shots rely heavily on caffeine for their effects. While 5-Hour Energy and other popular energy shots do contain some nootropic ingredients (N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine and citicoline, for example), it’s unlikely they’d have much of an effect if you removed the caffeine.
BriteShot doesn’t rely on caffeine for its cognition-boosting effects. It contains a proprietary blend of nootropic ingredients that have been scientifically shown to be both safe and effective. While the bottle does list these nootropics it, unfortunately, doesn’t list how much of each are in it.
So, what’s in it? BriteShot contains several megadoses of B vitamins and a proprietary nootropic blend. The B vitamins are all known to play a role in energy and metabolism. FDA regulations require vitamin amounts to be listed on packaging, so we know how much of each is in BriteShot. It’s only the proprietary nootropic blend that isn’t listed.
Here are the B vitamins in BriteShot:
- Vitamin B1 – Thiamine (as Thiamine HCl) – 50 mg
- Vitamin B3 – Niacin (as Niacinamide) – 33 mg
- Vitamin B5 – Pantothenic Acid (as D-Calcium Pantothenate) – 50 mg
- Vitamin B6 – Pyridoxine (as Pyridoxine HCl) – 50 mg
These B vitamins are all necessary for optimal brain function. The first three all play an important role in energy metabolism. And, Vitamin B6 is involved in amino acid metabolism, including the creation of various neurotransmitters. These megadosed B vitamins will all help the nootropics in BriteShot to be more effective.
BriteShot’s proprietary nootropic blend contains eight different nootropics. We don’t know how much of each are in it. However, we do know that all the nootropics combined total 1,788 mg. Here are the nootropics in BriteShot and what they each do:
Acetyl-L-Carnitine – Involved in energy metabolism. Scientifically shown to reduce certain aspects of aging, like neurological decline and increased fatigue.
Chocamine® Cocoa Extract – Increased blood flow to the brain. Promotes circulation and energy metabolism.
Soy Lecithin – Is a choline source. Choline increases acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter known to play an important role in memory and learning.
Alpha Lipoic Acid – A fatty acid involved in energy metabolism with powerful antioxidant properties.
Rhodiola – Adaptogenic plant used for centuries to reduce fatigue, improve mood, reduce anxiety, and increase energy.
Guarana – A fruit-bearing tree with seeds that have been used to increase energy for centuries. Contains several compounds with stimulating properties.
Vinpocetine – An alkaloid derived from the periwinkle plant. Has numerous scientifically-backed nootropic benefits, including improved memory, reduced stress, and overall cognitive enhancement.
Huperzine A – Extracted from a herb, Huperzine A slows the breakdown of the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine.
As you can see, BriteShot contains eight well-known nootropics that have been around for a long time. They each have a good safety profile and have all been scientifically studied and shown to be effective. Everyone’s brains are different, though, and not everyone responds to the same things. So, how did I respond to BriteShot?
My BriteShot Review
Like I said at the beginning, I love the idea of an easy-to-drink nootropic shot. BriteShot made an excellent first impression on me. The packaging is good, the ingredients look good, and the serving size is good. Each bottle contains one serving of 2 fluid ounces. This is the same exact size as other energy shots. Everything looked good.
What wasn’t good was trying to open the bottle. Getting the plastic wrapping off so I could twist off the top was easy enough. But then, covering the opening was a seal that needed to be removed. It couldn’t be pulled off and had to be punctured, leaving a ring around opening. I understand wanting to keep the product sealed, but found this extra barrier to be both unnecessary and annoying.
The shot went down easy enough. Gulp, gulp, gone. The taste wasn’t terrible, but there’s certainly room for improvement. It also left a slightly-unpleasant aftertaste that lingered for a few minutes. Again, not awful, but could certainly be better.
Those are the only major criticisms that I have of BriteShot: the packaging and the taste. But, as the first nootropic shot, I give them a pass on both. These are both things that can be improved in the future.
I tried BriteShot twice, first thing in the morning, on consecutive days. After about an hour on both days, I felt like I was thinking a little clearer than usual. My mood also seemed to be a little bit brighter.
Sometimes, I struggle with finding the right words to say or write. I have to really think about something to find the words that I want to use. On the days that I took BriteShot, I didn’t have that problem. I got tons of writing done and only had to run to my thesaurus a couple times.
I also noticed that my overall mood was better both days. This is consistent with research that’s been done on some of BriteShot’s ingredients. I felt less stressed and more positive about the future. It was nice.
It’s hard to say exactly how long the effects lasted. I felt productive for most of the day, both days. There was no crash, at all. The effects of BriteShot we subtle, but certainly noticeable. I didn’t feel it come on and I didn’t feel any kind of crash. Very smooth.
Would I use BriteShot again? Recommend it to others?
All things considered, I liked BriteShot. It’s a great idea and it delivered what it said it would. Since some of its ingredients work best when taken daily for a period of weeks, I didn’t get to experience the full benefits of BriteShot. However, it offers plenty of immediate benefits that make it worthwhile.
I’ll use BriteShot again. I won’t use it daily, though. There are other nootropic blends that would be more cost effective. With BriteShot, what you’re paying for is convenience. I’m gonna keep a pack on hand to have on days when I need a quick and easy boost. Fortunately, they sell BriteShot in packs of 2, 12, and 24.
Would I recommend BriteShot to others? Yes, I would. Not as a daily nootropic, but as something to have on hand for when you need a boost on the go. Keep some on hand for when you need them most.
The idea of a nootropic shot is great. BriteShot is the first of its kind, which is why I was so eager to write this BriteShot review. As nootropics continue to grow in popularity, I suspect we’ll see more and more products like this. I’m glad I discovered this product and will continue to use it, occasionally.
BriteShot gave me a modest but noticeable boost – exactly what I was looking for. It made me feel more energetic and productive throughout the day. BriteShot also gave me a nice little mood boost, too.
