What is Ascend Focus: Safety Edition?
This is a relatively new nootropic product made by Journey Nutrition Labs. As of right now, Ascend Focus: Safety Edition is their only product. However, they do have two other nootropic products that will be coming out soon: Ascend Focus:Calm and Ascend Focus:Daybreak.
You may be asking yourself the same thing that I asked myself when I first saw this product: Why is it called “Safety Edition?” What does that mean?
What it means is that Ascend Focus: Safety Edition is safe to take with prescription medications. Journey Nutrition Labs created a nootropic formula that only contains ingredients that have been shown to be safe when taken with prescription meds.
This is good news for the millions of people who take prescription medications. More than half of all American adults are on at least one prescription med. The ingredients in Ascend Focus: Safety Edition all have excellent safety profiles and should not interact negatively with any prescriptions you're taking.
Before I get to my Ascend Focus: Safety Edition review, let's take a look at its ingredients.
Ascend Focus: Safety Edition Ingredients
This nootropic blend contains nine ingredients: 5 nootropics and 4 vitamins. Let's take a quick look at each of them.
N-Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR) – This is a well-known nootropic that can improve several aspects of cognition and may even aid in fat loss.
Lion's Mane Mushroom Extract – Lion's mane is a popular mushroom that has been used for centuries in traditional medicine. It's known to improve mood, decrease anxiety, and increase productivity.
Phosphatidylserine – A phospholipid found in high amounts in the brain. Usually found in meat and fish, phosphatidylserine has been shown to improve several aspects of cognitive performance.
CDP-Choline – This is a popular choline source. Your body uses choline to produce the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is known to play a role in memory and learning.
Alpha-GPC – Another popular choline source.
5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) Calcium – This is a version of the vitamin folate. Supplementing with it may have cognitive benefits.
Vitamins D, B6, and B12 – These are essential vitamins that the body needs for optimal functioning. They may increase the effectiveness of the nootropics above.
As you can see, Ascend Focus: Safety Edition contains only safe, well-researched nootropics. There is nothing in this formula that should negatively interact with most prescription medications. Now, let's get to my Ascend Focus review.
Ascend Focus: Safety Edition Review
Right off the bat, I have to say, I like what Journey Nutrition Labs is trying to do with Ascend Focus: Safety Edition. With such a large percentage of people being on prescription meds (me being one of them), it's nice to see a formula created specifically for that population.
Another thing that I really liked right away was the fact that one serving is just 1 capsule. Just about every other nootropic product that I've tried lists 2 capsules as one serving. Obviously, the
The first day that I took Ascend Focus, I took 1 capsule in the morning with my daily cup of coffee. Ascend Focus: Safety Edition doesn't contain any caffeine so I didn't have to worry about taking too much. After about an hour, I got started on my day's work.
It's hard to say if I noticed any effects that first day. I did have a productive day and got everything done that I'd wanted to. But I didn't feel particularly focused or in a better-than-average mood. This didn't surprise me, though. Based on the ingredients, I expected it to take a few days to notice anything.
The next several days were more of the same. I got everything done that I'd wanted
After taking Ascend Focus: Safety Edition daily for a week, I started to notice a few things. The first thing I noticed was that I seemed to be in a better mood. I was more motivated and excited about getting my work done. Another thing I noticed was that, once I got involved in something, time seemed to move by quickly. This is known as being in a “flow state,” which is highly desirable.
For all of the second week that I was taking Ascend Focus, I was in a good mood and very productive. Several of its ingredients, like lion's mane and ALCAR, can take a while to really kick in. I also felt more motivated and driven, which could've been due to the CDP-choline. That potent choline source has been shown to improve the way dopamine works in certain parts of the brain. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter known to play a role in memory and motivation.
After taking Ascend Focus: Safety Edition for two weeks, I'm sold. Of all the nootropic blends I've tried, it's definitely one of the milder ones. But the fact that it's incredibly safe and only requires one capsule a day makes it very attractive to me.
Another thing that makes Ascend Focus: Safety Edition more attractive than many of its competitors is the price. Many nootropic products cost over $50 for a 30-day supply. Ascend Focus: Safety Edition, on the other hand, costs significantly less than that for a 60-day supply.
If you're on one or more prescription medications and are worried about drug interactions, Ascend Focus: Safety Edition is an excellent nootropic product to try. Or if you're on a budget and want to try a mild-yet-effective nootropic that won't break the bank, this product is
