What is Azoth?

This is a nootropic product that, I have to say, I liked from second I first discovered it. For starters, Azoth is made right here in my hometown: Boston. While that alone isn't reason enough to like a product, it's a good start! I'm especially happy to write this Azoth review because I like to support local businesses whenever I can.

Another thing that I liked about Azoth right off the bat was the packaging. It comes in a clear plastic bottle, something I've only seen from Northwest Nootropics' Evergreen. I like the transparent bottle because I can see exactly what the capsules look like and how large they are. Most other nootropic products come in solid-colored bottles.

Azoth Review 2

In addition to the transparent bottle, I also really like the label. It's an eye-catching dark red with easy-to-read gold and white lettering. And the cap is an aesthetically-pleasing, matching red. Azoth is an all-around attractive product.

In 2017, Azoth, LLC was formed in my home state of Massachusetts. Since then, they've sold close to 50,000 bottles of Azoth and that number is sure to keep increasing. It contains nine well-researched ingredients, all shown to be safe and effective.

Azoth, also referred to as Azoth 2.0, is the second nootropic product offered by Azoth, LLC – hence the 2.0. They also have another product called Total Energy. Unlike Azoth, Total Energy contains caffeine. Azoth provides energy and focus without caffeine by combining nine proven nootropics into one convenient capsule.

These nine ingredients work together synergistically to pack a powerful productivity punch. Azoth's slogan is “Get Sh*t Done.” Just by looking at the ingredients, which we'll go over in a moment, I could tell that this product should indeed do just that. It contains well-researched nootropics that have been scientifically shown to increase productivity, focus, and motivation.

Some products rely on caffeine to provide the boost that nootropic users are looking for. There's no question that caffeine works, but it comes at a price. Anxiety, insomnia, jitters, and the dreaded crash that comes a few hours after taking caffeine are all well-known side effects.

Azoth provides lasting energy without any of those side effects. In fact, it does the exact opposite. Azoth can boost mood and reduce anxiety while, at the same time, increase focus and productivity. There's no crash and no comedown like there often is with caffeine.

The word “Azoth” is an ancient term used to mean a universal solvent or medication. It is a medieval Latin word and was used by alchemists to describe the element mercury. The 16th-century physician Paracelsus believed Azoth to be the ultimate medicine, a universal remedy to cure all ailments.

For a modern-day nootropic that can increase focus and motivation, reduce anxiety, and improve mood, “Azoth” seems like an appropriate name. While it doesn't claim to be a remedy for all ailments, Azoth can improve several aspects of cognitive functioning. At the very least, it will help you “Get Sh*t Done.”

I was already impressed with Azoth before I even tried it. Between the attractive packaging, cool name, edgy slogan, and science-backed ingredients, I liked this product from the beginning. And, once I actually tried it, I liked it even more. But, before I get to my Azoth review, let's see what makes it such a powerful nootropic formula.

Azoth Ingredients

Azoth contains nine well-researched ingredients. They are all known to improve one or more aspects of cognition and are generally considered to be very safe. Unlike some nootropic products, Azoth lists exactly how much of each ingredient is in it. Some products claim to have a “proprietary blend” and only list the ingredients but not the amount. Azoth is transparent about exactly what's in their product, which I like. It contains the following ingredients:

Ashwagandha – An adaptogenic plant that has been used for centuries. It is known to reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and balance hormone levels, among other benefits.

L-Tyrosine – This is an amino acid that is a precursor to the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine. The body uses l-tyrosine to create these essential chemicals which are known to play a role in mood, memory, focus, and other aspects of mental functioning.

Phosphatidylserine – This is a phospholipid that is found in high amounts in the brain. Phosphatidylserine is usually consumed through eating meats and fish. When taken in supplement form, it has been shown to improve cognition.

Sulbutiamine – This is a derivative of the B vitamin, thiamine (B1). Sulbutiamine is popular in the nootropics community for its ability to increase focus, motivation, and energy.

Alpha-GPC – This is a popular choline source. The body uses choline to create the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is known to play a role in memory, movement, and other important processes.

Bacopa Monnieri – Like ashwagandha, bacopa is an adaptogenic plant that has been used safely for centuries. It is known to improve mood and reduce anxiety.

Teacrine – This is a patent-pending compound that contains a high concentration of theacrine, a naturally-occurring molecule that is similar to caffeine. But, unlike caffeine, theacrine produces mild stimulation without causing jitters or a crash hours later.

Bioperine – This is a patented form of black pepper extract. Black pepper is known to increase the bioavailability of many substances, including several that are in Azoth.

Huperzine A – This compound is extracted from an herb and is known to stop the breakdown of acetylcholine in the body. Huperzine A has been shown to be neuroprotective and is often included in nootropic formulas.

As you can see, Azoth contains nine research-backed ingredients that work together to improve cognitive performance. They have all been extensively studied and shown to be safe and effective. Now that we've discussed Azoth and its ingredients, I can get on with my Azoth review.

Azoth Review

I already had an idea of what to expect from Azoth before I even tried it because I've used all of its ingredients, except Teacrine. I've never used them all together at the same time, however. Trying Teacrine for the first time was yet another reason that I was eager to try this product and to write up this Azoth review.

The back of the bottle says that a serving is 2-4 capsules. However, the Azoth website states that it is “designed to increase focus, energy, and crush any rises in stress, anxiety, and depression in its tracks without a crash or tolerance build-up with just 1-3 capsules a day.” I decided to start with 2 capsules at first, since I'm already an experienced nootropic user. However, if you've never used most or any of the ingredients in Azoth, I'd recommend starting with just 1 capsule.

On the first day that I tried Azoth, I took those 2 capsules on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. As I usually do, I also had a cup of coffee. I thought about skipping it, since Teacrine works similarly to caffeine. However, I decided to have just one cup of coffee. Doing so would allow me to be able to notice the effects of Azoth better.

After about an hour, I definitely noticed an increase in energy and motivation. My usual cup of coffee gives me a modest energy boost and helps me wake up, but nothing like this. I felt alert and focused, ready to “Get Sh*t Done,” just like the product advertises.

All day long and deep into the evening, I was very productive. Not only was I focused and motivated, but my mood was good, too. I didn't notice any sort of crash and I didn't feel jittery at any point in the day. That night, I fell asleep without issue and slept soundly throughout the night.

For the next few days, I continued to take 2 capsules upon waking. Just like the first day, I noticed an increase in energy and motivation which started within an hour. I also noticed that my mood seemed to get better and better with each passing day. This isn't surprising, since Azoth contains bacopa and sulbutiamine. Both of those ingredients are known to improve mood and work best when taken daily.

After taking 2 capsules of Azoth everyday for a week, I decided to bump it up to 4 capsules. The results I was getting from 2 capsules were definitely noticeable, but I wanted to see if more capsules would equal more focus and motivation. Not surprisingly, it did.

On the first day that I took 4 capsules, I felt an intense sense of energy and focus. I wouldn't call it overstimulation, but I definitely felt like I needed to stay busy. All day long, I did just that and I got a lot of stuff done. Excuse me: I mean I Got a lot of Sh*t Done. I forgot what product I was talking about!

I was incredibly productive that whole day. My mood was good overall, though I did find myself getting a little aggravated at times. I worked late into the evening, accomplishing all kinds of stuff. The only problem was that I actually found it hard to wind down. It took me a while to fall asleep that night, longer than usual.

For the remainder of my two-week Azoth trial, I took 3 capsules a day. For me, 3 capsules seem to be my sweet spot. I got good results with 2 capsules but found 4 to be a little too much. 3 caps gave me plenty of focused energy throughout the day and still allowed me to relax and sleep well at night.

I took Azoth everyday for two weeks. From day one, I noticed an increase in focus, energy, and motivation. Gradually, over the course of those two weeks, my mood seemed to improve a bit. I'm usually in a reasonably-decent mood but often experience a touch of season depression. Azoth certainly made my winter blues easier to deal with by improving my mood and helping me stay busy.

Azoth Review 5
Azoth's accurate slogan.

I should also note that, while I didn't notice a significant decrease in anxiety, it didn't increase, either. Between the ashwagandha and l-theanine, this isn't surprising. Both of those ingredients are known to reduce anxiety and stress. I haven't had much anxiety lately, so there wasn't an excess of it to be reduced. For people who do have a lot of anxiety, Azoth might help to reduce it.

I had been excited about writing this Azoth review from the moment I first learned about it. Between the proven list of ingredients, attractive packaging, and the fact that the company is located in Boston, Azoth looked like it had a lot to offer. Now that I've tried it, I can honestly say that it didn't disappoint.

Azoth gave me a noticeable increase of energy, focus, and motivation without causing any anxiety. And it also improved my mood, something that always suffers in the wintertime. All things considered, I love this product and would absolutely recommend it. The combination of research-backed ingredients works well and Azoth definitely helped me to “Get Sh*t Done.”

Conclusion

And there you have it – my Azoth review. Of all the nootropic products that I've tried over the years, this is one of my favorites. In fact, I'd have to say it is one of the best nootropic blends that I've tried, right up there with Neuro-Stack. Azoth combines just the right ingredients to increase focus, energy, and motivation without increasing anxiety.

Azoth is available from the company's website. They offer individual bottles or you can subscribe and get Azoth delivered monthly. It's reasonably priced, comparable to other similar nootropic products. Use the code NOOTROPICSZONE to get 10% off a single bottle.

Whether you're an experienced nootropic user or brand new to the world of cognitive enhancement, Azoth has something to offer. If you're looking to be more productive and in a better mood without experiencing an increase in anxiety, give Azoth a try. I certainly wasn't disappointed and you won't be either!
